Packet Loss Measurement Based on Sampled Flow

This paper is devoted to further strengthening, in the current asymmetric information environment, informed level of operators about network performance. Specifically, view burst and perishability a packet loss event, better meet real-time requirements high-speed backbone performance monitoring, model for Packet Loss Measurement at access boundary Based on Sampled Flow (PLMBSF) presented this under premise both cost real-time. The overcomes problems such as inability previous estimation distinguish between losses before after monitoring point, deployment difficulties cooperative operation consistency. Drawing support from Mathis equation regression analysis, measurement point can be realized when using only sampled flows generated by equipment. comparison results with trace-based passive show that although proposed easily affected factors flow length, rate, sampling overall accuracy still within acceptable range. In addition, PLMBSF, compared different input data granularity. Therefore, PLMBSF its advantages are also applicable aggregated traffic.
